The Tutor Time Melville building has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED certification for our advanced green building. LEED is a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of green buildings, homes and neighborhoods. LEED helps building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently.
As the Tutor Time Melville building was being planned and constructed in early 2014, we made the decision to enable the building to be a Green Building. This includes making Tutor Time Melville geothermal and also powered by solar.
A geothermal building harnesses the earth’s energy to warm and cool the entire building without the use of fossil fuels. This also eliminates the need for boiler room and cumbersome heating, ventilation and air conditional systems. The Tutor Time Melville building uses solar energy to power our lights, computers, Smart Boards and much more! With solar panels placed on our roof we are able to harness the energy of the sun and provide a safe and energy efficient environment.
LEED certification is recognized across the globe as the premier mark of achievement in green building.
